Levinson Axelrod, P.A. Associate Brian P. McElroy, Esq. recently secured a six-figure settlement on behalf of a client who sustained serious and permanent injuries to her spine in a motor vehicle collision. Our client had been traveling as a rear-seat passenger when the vehicle she was in was slammed from behind by a police car.
As noted in court documents, the incident occurred in October 2016 when our client, a 40-year-old female, was involved in the collision. As a result of the crash, our client sustained permanent injuries to her neck and low back. Her low back required a procedure known as a lumbar fusion, a surgical technique in which vertebrae are joined together in order to stabilize the spine. Though spinal fusion prevents movement at a painful vertebral segment, it also results in a permanent loss of motion.
Though collisions involving government vehicles and passengers who suffer injuries while traveling in another motorist’s vehicle can create challenges when seeking liability, Attorney McElroy was able to effectively advocate for our client, and negotiate a $765,000.00 settlement on her behalf.
The recovery financial will help pay for our client’s extensive medical expenses, as well as her pain and suffering and other economic and non-economic damages.
