Jessica Bland Reaches $400K Settlement in Truck Accident Case

Jessica Bland Reaches $400K Settlement in Truck Accident Case
|

Levinson Axelrod, P.A. Associate Jessica R. Bland recently resolved a trucking accident case for a client who suffered injuries and a subsequent infection after she was involved in a multi-vehicle accident caused by a landscaping truck.

According to court documents, Jessica’s client was injured in a four-vehicle collision when a landscaping truck struck her vehicle in the rear as she was exiting Route 22 West. The impact pushed our client’s car into the line of traffic ahead of her.

As a result of the crash, our client suffered a severe seatbelt injury to her chest wall and both breasts. The seatbelt injury sustained to our client’s right breast became severely infected, requiring needle aspiration, antibiotic treatment, and ultimately surgery. The surgical procedure resulted in deformity of her breast, numbness, sensory loss, and scarring.

In addition to continued pain and loss of sensation, our client later suffered reinfection of the right breast, and was told by her breast specialist that she would likely develop recurrent infections in the future from routine mammograms.

During a court-facilitated settlement conference prior to trial, Jessica was able to negotiate a $400,000 settlement. The recovery will compensate our client for the considerable pain and suffering, medical expenses, and other economic and non-economic damages incurred as a result of the collision, as well as future expenses associated with her injuries and increased likelihood of recurrent infections.
