Levinson Axelrod, P.A. Partner Joe Marabondo recently secured a six-figure settlement for an auto accident victim that amounted to more than 16x the insurance company’s initial offer.
As court records show, Joe represented our client in a motor vehicle accident claim handled out of our Edison office. Our client had been traveling in her vehicle when she was struck by a motorist who ran a stop sign and, as a result of the collision, suffered a wrist injury that required her to undergo arthroscopic surgery.
In litigating the case, Joe encountered resistance from the defendant’s auto insurance carrier, which contested liability. Additionally, while we argued that our client continued to suffer from residual pain and difficulties caused by her injury even after her surgery, the defendants contended that she has fully recovered.
Given the insurance carrier’s position, the defendants made an initial offer of just $15,000 to settle the case. Fortunately, thanks to Mr. Marabondo’s aggressive pursuit and his determination to demonstrate the long-term effects of our client’s injury and resulting damages, he was able to secure a final settlement totaling $245,000. This amounted to more than 16x the insurance company’s initial offer.
This case was a significant victory for our client, who will now have sufficient funds to pay for her medical treatments and cover her other losses.
