On Saturday, May 3, 2023, Todd Wachtel, Esq. was inducted as a “Fellow” in the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers.

The formal dinner was held at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square and attended by attorneys from all over the United States. The keynote speaker was Phil Roosevelt, a relative of Theodore Roosevelt, who created Workers’ Compensation laws for Federal railroad workers, and was the spark for States to implement their own worker protection statutes.

According to the CWCL, the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers was established to honor those attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice in the field of Workers’ Compensation.

Members are nominated for the outstanding traits they have developed in their practice of twenty years or longer, representing plaintiffs and defendants, serving as judges, or acting for the benefit of all in education, overseeing agencies, and developing legislation. These individuals have convinced their peers, the bar, bench, and public that they possess the highest level of:

  • Professional Qualifications
  • Ethical Standards
  • Character

  • Professional Expertise
  • Leadership

Fellows commit to fostering and furthering the objectives of the College and have shown significant evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing, and/or distinguished published writings on workers’ compensation or related fields of law.
