Result: Todd Wachtel Reaches Six-Figure Settlement for Client Injured in Slip & Fall at Work

settlement

Levinson Axelrod, P.A. Partner Todd Wachtel recently negotiated a $127,000 workers’ compensation settlement for a client who slipped and fell during the course of her employment.

As case facts indicate, Todd’s client suffered multiple injuries in a slip and fall accident while working, including injuries to her left hand, left arm, back, and right shoulder.

Though workers injured on the job are typically entitled to benefits through their employer’s workers’ compensation insurance, the case was complicated by the fact that Todd’s client had undergone prior surgeries for her shoulder and needed another surgery due to the accident at work. As a result, the workers’ compensation carrier denied that the hand, arm, and back injuries were related to the fall.

After having his client evaluated by medical experts and working through multiple conferences with the Court, Todd was able to negotiate a settlement that included the significant $127,000 lump sum payment and an agreement that would allow the claimant to reopen her claim for her shoulder if it becomes worse within the next two years.
