42 people were injured at a Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa concert on Friday August 5 after a railing collapsed, dropping approximately 50 people 10 feet onto a concrete path at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ.

According to witnesses, dozens of concertgoers ran forward once the two rappers took the stage, and their combined weight pressing against the railing apparently caused the barrier to fail. 34 of the injured people were taken to 4 different hospitals to receive treatment – Kennedy University Hospital, Virtua Camden Outpatient Center, Lourdes Medical Center, and Cooper University Hospital. The other 8 were treated by on-site medics before being released according to Dan Keashen, a spokesman for Camden County.

One injured person was taken to the trauma unit at Cooper University Hospital, but according to hospital spokeswoman Rhonda Wexler, that was only because all of the beds in the emergency department were filled. All of the patients were released after receiving treatment.

Keashen told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the two rappers motioned to the concert goers on the lawn to come closer to their stage, prompting them to rush forward into the railing.

Live Nation, the company operating the BB&T Pavilion, installed temporary barriers over the weekend and had security enforce a buffer zone to ensure that Friday’s events would not repeat themselves during the “I Love the 90's with Salt N Pepa & More” concert that Saturday night. The venue will be installing permanent railings that will be inspected by the city of Camden after the weekend’s activities, according to city of Camden spokesman Vince Basara.

Basara also said that that the BB&T Pavilion’s inspections were up to date, and that the venue had no outstanding violations.
