Levinson Axelrod, P.A. Attorney, Rosemary McGeady Esq. Speaks at National Conference

|

Rosemary McGeady Esq., an attorney from our Edison office, spoke on February 28, 2015 at the American College of Legal Medicine's conference at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Rosemary, who is also a doctor, has been a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine for years. This organization consists of individuals who, like Rosemary, have both a medical degree as well as a legal degree.

Rosemary had been asked by the chairperson of the National Conference to speak on Affidavits of Merit as they pertain to medical malpractice. Generally, an Affidavit of Merit requires another physician from the same practice area to certify that the defendant doctor violated the standard of care within that field in providing medical treatment, which caused the plaintiff's injuries. Without a proper Affidavit of Merit, a Judge could dismiss a malpractice claim.

Rosemary's talk was well received by everyone in attendance, as have her previous appearances prior to this organization's conference. Attorneys from Levinson Axelrod are consistently asked to speak at functions that teach other lawyers about new innovations in the law and how to best serve our clients.

Medical malpractice cases are the most difficult cases that attorneys handle. These claims require specialized knowledge as these cases are very complex.
