Around 3:00 a.m. on Monday morning in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania a large fire broke out inside an old warehouse. The warehouse had not been in use for quite some time, and there were no people inside at the time of the fire.
Firefighters arrived at the six-story building and attempted to calm the flames. The flames became erratic and out of control, spreading to nearby buildings and areas. A furniture store became a victim of the fire, and five firefighters entered that building in order to put out the flames. They became trapped inside when the heat caused a large wall to collapse on top of them.
One of the men was able to break free, and locate help for his other co-workers. Additional firefighters rallied around the collapsed wall, and used their hands to free the men from the rubble of metal and wood. Two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene of the workplace accident. The other two men were taken to a local hospital in serious condition. They are currently in critical, but stable condition. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been started by local investigators.
