Last week, two people were killed in separate incidents when they were each struck by trains.
The first accident occurred Thursday morning when an Amtrak train carrying 251 passengers struck a person near the Hamilton Township station on its route to New York. Later than evening, a New Jersey Transit Morris and Essex Line commuter train struck a man near the East Orange station. The train carried about 900 passengers. No one on board was injured. It is unclear why either person was on the tracks.
