Dementia patient kills fellow nursing home resident

An 81-year-old New Jersey nursing home resident was killed after a fight with a 72-year-old dementia patient that was also a resident.
According to officials, the cause of the man’s death was a brain hemorrhage and the death was ruled a homicide. The incident began when the 72-year-old man picked up a TV and struck the other man with it.
The other man then picked up a plastic trash can and struck the man in the head with it. Both men were dementia patients and charges have not been filed in the accident as an investigation continues.

Former NJ Nurse Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

A former nurse was sentenced the three years in state prison after pleading guilty to theft and elderly endangerment charges.
The 30-year-old woman was sentenced to prison on third-degree charges of theft of narcotics and nine months for fourth-degree abuse and neglect of the elderly. The incidents happened at multiple locations in Salem County. Police believe the woman abused more than 20 patients. On nursing home patient claimed that the woman hit her over the head with a call box after she kept pressing the button.
