Posted on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 at 9:32 pm

On February 16, in Chesterfield, a school bus collided with a dump truck and caused a fatal accident.

An 11-year-old triplet was killed in the bus accident, and her two sisters were severely injured along with one other student. The two sisters received serious injuries, but were ultimately released from the hospital. The third injured student remains in the hospital in critical condition.

The bus driver was issued a citation for failing to stop completely at a stop sign. According to the driver, he inched ahead of the sign in order to get a clear view of the road and failed to see the oncoming dump truck. The dump truck driver was given a citation as well, for improperly securing the cargo. Toxicology reports are still being processed, and it is unclear at this time if any criminal charges will be filed in the accident.
