Newark teen killed in car crash

Posted on Monday, November 7th, 2011 at 4:07 am

15-year-old Deyshawn Grimes was pronounced dead at the scene when Essex County police found the stolen SUV he was driving crashed into a concrete barrier in Newark Sunday morning.

The vehicle was reported stolen in Kearny and was involved in a minor accident with another stolen vehicle at 4:15am before crashing in the barrier near Route 21 and Bridge Street.

Police were notified by a witness, and upon driving toward them, both cars drove away.  The second car was stolen in East Orange, and police have not caught the teens driving that vehicle.
