Truck driver strikes two pedestrians

Posted on Tuesday, August 10th, 2010 at 1:50 pm

Two people were injured in a pedestrian accident after a box truck ran into a bus stop on Route 17.

According to authorities, a 36-year-old truck driver was driving when he failed to drive a curve correctly and ran into a bus stop and struck two people as they were waiting.

Both pedestrians, a 54-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were transported to the hospital in serious condition. The woman had to undergo surgery to partially amputate her leg. The accident occurred during morning rush hour causing traffic to be backed up for hours while police investigated the scene.
