Woodland Park police enforce NJ helmet laws

Posted on Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 at 2:06 pm

The police force in Woodland Park has announced that it will be enforcing New Jersey’s helmet law in order to prevent head and brain injuries in children and teens.

The law, 39:2-10.1, states that children under 17 must wear a protective helmet while biking, skateboarding, roller skating and using a scooter. Fines for the offense carry a maximum of $25 and the second and third offense carry a maximum of $100 fine. Law enforcement officials are suggesting that parents wear helmets to show their teens and children a good example.
