A New Jersey State Police trooper was involved in a car accident on an icy road on February 26.

The trooper was driving around 8 p.m. when his police car hit a patch of ice on the road. He lost control of the vehicle as it went off the road and hit a telephone pole. The trooper was briefly trapped in the car and was extracted by police. The road had not be salted or plowed at the time of the accident. The state trooper was transferred to the hospital with back and foot injuries.
