New Jersey Police Officer Killed in Accident

Posted on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 at 9:34 am

An officer with the Delaware River Port Authority police department was killed in a car accident while responding to a call early Saturday morning.

The 40-year-old driver had responded to a 2 a.m. accident on the Walt Whitman Bridge. He noticed another driving attempting to make a u-turn to avoid the scene of the accident, and while attempting to tell the driver not to make the turn, he was struck by another vehicle. A nurse on the scene attempted to assist while another officer rushed him to the hospital, but the officer died shortly after arrival.

The law team at the offices of Levinson Axelrod is deeply saddened by the loss of a peace officer in the line of duty, and our heartfelt condolences go out to the officer’s family.
