At 5:45 a.m. on Dec. 23, the driver of a tractor-trailer drove an embankment on the New Jersey Turnpike and ended up in a creek.
The accident occurred on the northbound side of the turnpike between Exit 4 and 5. Rescue crews and police spent over two hours trying to free the truck driver from his wrecked truck which was partially submerged. The wreck caused many lanes of the turnpike to close and traffic to back up.
The driver was air lifted to a nearby hospital.
