MEDICAL MALPRACTICE REFORM IS DEAD, FOR NOW

After all the picketing, job actions and threats, the New Jersey Senate and Assembly has finally decided to act on the doctors request for medical malpractice tort reform. Despite the threats, our politicians have decided to continue with our tort system as it is. This issue is not gone forever of the doctors decide to go a second round. Considering how their support dwindled, it may not be prudent to once again raise this issue. I suspect that the doctors will wait the outcome of the November General Election and the revisit this issue.

Unless there is either a sizeable change in the ratio of Democrats to Republicans or unless the doctors come back to the politicians with better statistical data, not much is going to change in our medical malpractice tort system.
